Affiliate disclaimer
How Category Is Travel earns money, when, and how we keep it from skewing the search results.
1. We earn affiliate commissions
Category Is Travel LLC is a participant in affiliate programs operated by Kayak, Skyscanner, Booking Holdings, and a small number of US carriers’ direct programs. When you click a partner deeplink on this site and complete a booking on the partner’s site, we may earn a commission paid by the partner.
2. The commission does not change your price
The commission is paid out of the partner’s margin. The fare you see and pay is the same whether you reach the partner through Category Is Travel or directly. We make no claim of “exclusive” or “negotiated” pricing — we surface the same published number anyone else would see.
3. We do not let commission rate determine ranking
The default sort order on the search panel is lowest published price. Partners that pay a higher commission do not earn a better position; partners that pay no commission still appear in the results. This is enforced in code, not by policy — the ranking function does not see commission rates at all.
4. Specific partners
- Kayak (a Booking Holdings brand) — default deeplink target for the search panel and for most fare cards on the deals page.
- Skyscanner — secondary deeplink, used when Kayak does not list a specific Southwest route.
- Direct airline links — we link to southwest.com directly because Southwest fares do not appear on Kayak.
5. We are not the carrier
Category Is Travel is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any airline. Trademarks (Delta, United, American, Southwest, JetBlue, Alaska, Frontier, Spirit, Sun Country) belong to their respective owners and are used purely to identify the carrier whose published fares we are showing.
6. Press & auditors
If you are a journalist, consumer-rights organization, or auditor and you would like to verify the points above, send a message to fares@categoryistravel.com with “audit request” in the subject line. We will share the partner-program agreements and the ranking function source on request.
